SCPD Welcomes New Officer Kyle Score

The Santa Cruz Police Department Welcomes
Officer Kyle Score

This afternoon, Deputy Chief Flippo presided over a ceremony to officially “swear in” Officer Score.
Officer Score graduated from the South Bay Regional Modular Academy in 2016. Before a career in law enforcement, Kyle worked at California K9 Solutions as a senior dog trainer for five years. He attended Foothill College before serving in the US Marine Corps where he specialized in K9 training and bomb detection. Officer Score is described as a leader and a passionate, well-qualified K9 trainer in his previous occupations. Kyle grew up in Felton and graduated from San Lorenzo Valley High School.

Vice Mayor David Terrazas was on hand to welcome Officer Score to public service with the City of Santa Cruz.

“ I am proud to welcome you to our police department and our community,” said the Vice Mayor. “You are supported by good people in this organization, the city, and the community. “

Deputy Chief Flippo had the honor of presenting and pinning Officer score with his badge.

“We are proud to bring Officer Score into the SCPD family. He has a solid reputation for hard work and integrity. Officer Score is highly qualified and motivated individual who will fit in well with our department and community.”, said Deputy Flippo.

Officer Score will now undergo a couple of weeks of orientation before being assigned to an 18-week Field Training program. During this program, he will be paired with a Field Training Officer and evaluated each day on his performance. Upon completion of the Field Training Program, Officer Score will be assigned to a patrol team to work as a solo beat officer.
