Teen Cycling For Police Officer Memorial Fund Visits SCPD

Today, an inspirational young man came riding his bicycle through Santa Cruz. Sixteen-year-old Travis Risley, whose father is a police officer in Napa, is riding his bicycle from the border of Oregon and California to the Mexican border to raise money for the California Peace Officer Memorial Foundation.
SCPD provided the escort for Travis during part of his trek today. Travis has already raised over $7,000 for the Foundation.
Travis made a special stop at SCPD's Memorial Garden where he was greeted by staff and presented with a donation and tokens of our appreciation.
Thank you for your dedication and service to this cause.
Travis's Police Unity Tour Travel Posse includes Troy Young from San Leandro PD, Harvey Ollis from Alameda County SO, Rich Butler from Hayward PD and Krista Sansen from Concord PD.
Before getting back on the road, Travis talked to the SCPD Teen Public Safety Academy about his experience.
We are very proud of Travis, Our entire department is behind you, so keep up the great work!
Safe travels for the rest of your journey!
